Providing an Evaluation through ByCommittee P&T

If you have been asked to provide an evaluation for a candidate who is up for promotion, tenure, or review at an institution that uses ByCommittee Promotion & Tenure, you can fulfill this request in a few, simple steps.

All requests for evaluations are managed by an administrator at the institution conducting the review. This individual will invite you to submit an evaluation via email.

The email includes:

  • Due date
  • The email address of the individual who sent the request, in case you have questions
  • A personal note from the person or committee making the request (if any)
  • A document reference number and link to Interfolio’s support desk if you have questions about the document or upload.

Accepting a Request for an Evaluation

Once you receive the email invitation, you have the option to “Accept” or “Decline” the request.

If you choose to accept the request, you will be taken to a custom URL with relevant documents, provided by the institution, to help guide your review. Clicking on these files will download them as PDFs to your computer.

Accepting a Request for an Evaluation

To return to the page at any time while you are working on your evaluation, either re-open the initial email request and click “Accept,” or, if you have an Interfolio account, sign into your account to find the request on your dashboard.

Note: selecting “Accept” will notify the requester that you have accepted, but will not show whether you have read or uploaded materials.

Submitting Your Evaluation

When you are ready to submit your evaluation of the candidate, upload or drop the document into the box on the “I Accept” page.

Submitting Your Evaluation

Then, select “Submit.” Your evaluation will then become available to the administrator who made the request. They will likely share your evaluation with the committees performing the review.

You will also receive an email confirming your successful submission.

Declining a Request for an Evaluation

If you choose to decline the request for an evaluation you will be taken to a unique URL confirming your choice. You have the option to write a personal message to the individual who sent the request.

Declining a Request for an Evaluation

Finally, you have the option to change your mind, should you decide you would like to submit an evaluation for the candidate after all.
